Road Trip: Days 72 & 73

Dateline: Minneapolis

I’m commuting, driving between Lake Elmo Reserve and the preserved Milwaukee Railroad Depot, downtown Minneapolis. The last trip, finally in the daylight, showed me that I’d been taking the commuter lane reserved for two or more in a car. No one noticed.

The contrast above is clear. Both venues have their advantages and appeal. One without the other might not be as good.

The Heartland Fall Forum (the booksellers’ show at the Depot) opened doors and provided more than a handful of pointers.

Above, author catalog; dinner in the Depot waiting room, Wendell Berry accepting an award, the set-up in the boarding barn.

Parting shots: more set-up, an interested party, Bob Dobrow (the newest bookseller in DULUTH: Zenith Books) and behind the tables of my neighbors.

Onward to Owatanna, Minnesota and Mason City, Iowa.
