Road Trip: Day 46

Posted: September 9, 2016 by timjollymore in Uncategorized

Dateline: Starbuck, MN  and, via art, Bodega Bay and  Tinker Creek

What do these three places have in common?

Birds, birds, birds birds, birds, birds, birds, birds, birds, birds, birds, birds, and more birds.

Immediately comes to mind Annie Dillard’s  PILGRIM AT TINKER CREEK in which she describes an Osage Orange tree full of sunlight which during her description explodes in to a thousand birds. This morning, I witnessed this phenomenon without the sunlight filtering the tree limbs. My tree let loose at least 500 blackbirds half to the north half to the south. My over-awed mind took several seconds to understand the importance of the happening and its rarity, too long a time to whip out my camera to capture the event. What resulted were these pictures of another tree that burst into birds.

Bodega Bay? Think Alfred Hitchcock’s THE BIRDS
