Dateline: Park Rapids – tony town

When Main Avenue underwent reconstruction a few years ago, the city  designers wanted to follow the rest of America with curb parking and turn lanes at the corners. The hew and cry was heard all over the county. “What?” Rapidians said, ” No middle of the street parking?” They may have wondered how they could be expected to learn parallel parking after years on the bias.

With the city  in an uproar about losing its identity along with parking spots something had to be done: Lake 2 Yes, put it back the way it was.

In north central Minnesota, Park Rapids is still known as the town where you can park in the middle of the street! It’s a personality thing: Lake 3 And it’s brought the past into PR’s future!  The four block downtown shopping area is as vibrant as many in California!

Hey Tim, How is it going? I tried to read your posting for Day 38, but all I could find was part of a sentence. I have been enjoying your other postings. Hope you are doing well. Take care. Cousin Bev
